A rosy start to the day: Rose, Raspberry and Avocado Smoothie

Rose, Raspberry & Avocado Smoothie by The Floral Mixtress

“Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers, our desires, our food, are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its color are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.” ― Arthur Conan Doyle, The Naval Treaty

“You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.” – Tom Wilson, from the “Ziggy” comic strip .

My Mama bought me a bunch of roses on my birthday – gorgeous deep apricot coloured blooms with a sweetly delicate scent. For me roses symbolise love, luxury and beauty. Given that weekday mornings currently represent turgid horror, drudgery and the burning desire to return to bed for the rest of the day a rosy start to the day is just what I need. Roll on the summer holidays!

Description

This smoothie is luscious, creamy and delicately floral with the rounded sweetness of honey and the sharp bite of raspberries. Also, it is pink which automatically confers awesomeness when it comes to food. Not so people. My partner, the big D, whilst internet dating met a girl who dressed entirely in pink and carried only pink things with her – pink cell phone, pink handbag… Not so awesome.
